Promoting Maritime Safety Culture
for Children and Families
The Bukhang Police Station of the Mokpo Coast Guard (Chief Chae Sujun) announced on May 12 that it participated in the "16th Healthy Family Day" event, organized by the Mokpo Family Center on May 10 in celebration of Family Month. The station provided coastal safety education and operated various hands-on safety activities during the event.
The event took place at Pyeonghwa Square in Mokpo. The main programs included a summer water safety OX quiz, proper life jacket wearing demonstration, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training, and a life ring throwing experience. These activities were designed to help local children learn about maritime safety in an enjoyable and accessible way.
Additionally, side events featured photo opportunities with the Coast Guard mascot, a Coast Guard uniform experience, and face painting. These diverse programs provided visitors with a natural introduction to the profession of the Coast Guard.
Chief Chae Sujun stated, "I hope this hands-on activity gives children and families a fun and easy opportunity to learn about maritime safety," adding, "We will continue to work to promote a culture of maritime safety close to the public."
