Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Launches Health Insurance Offering Half Premium Refund for Claim-Free Customers

Encouraging Customers to Manage Their Own Health
Including a Hospital Companion Service

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on May 12 that it will launch a new type of health insurance product called the 'Bojeong Account.'


The Bojeong Account offers comprehensive coverage for the entire treatment journey of customers with serious illnesses. It is based on a lifetime guarantee account concept for treatment costs and includes features such as 'Health Return,' which provides greater benefits the healthier the customer is, and a 'Hospital Companion Service' for single-person households or elderly customers. Individuals between the ages of 15 and 70 are eligible to enroll, and the insurance period can be chosen as either up to age 90 or 100.

This product introduces a new lifetime guarantee account concept for treatment costs, simplifying the dozens of existing serious illness (cancer, cerebrovascular disease, ischemic heart disease) coverages into five categories. Previously, coverage for serious illness treatment costs was limited to a maximum of 10 years after diagnosis. However, the lifetime guarantee account treatment cost now provides coverage up to age 100. It covers everything from early detection (tests), hospitalization, surgery, medication, metastasis, to post-treatment management. The coverage increases for more severe illnesses, representing a significant upgrade compared to previous products.


The product also includes the 'Health Return' benefit, which allows customers to receive up to 52.5% of their paid premiums back if they maintain a claim-free status for a certain period after enrollment. While similar premium discount programs based on claim-free status exist in the industry, Health Return offers this benefit to all customers who enroll in the relevant coverage. The claim-free status is maintained even in cases of minor surgeries and hospitalizations. The product also differentiates itself by improving customer convenience through automatic payouts.


Additionally, the Bojeong Account provides a hospital companion service as part of its healthcare offerings for customers who have difficulty visiting hospitals alone. Family members can apply for this service on behalf of the patient. It will be offered as a premium service, allowing real-time tracking of the customer's location during transportation and providing records of hospital visits after treatment.


A representative from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance stated, "We aimed to develop an insurance product that is easy for customers to understand and that supports their health management," adding, "We will continue to develop and offer products that go beyond simple coverage to provide customers with positive experiences."
