Yoon Calls on Young Generation to Join Forces
The Youth Headquarters of the Democratic Party of Korea’s Central Election Committee stated on May 11, "Mr. Yoon Seokyoul should stop deceiving young people and properly undergo an investigation into charges of conspiracy to commit insurrection and undermining the constitutional order."
In a statement released that day, the Youth Headquarters said, "Mr. Yoon once again appealed to young people to protect the free Republic of Korea," and added, "This is nothing more than a repetition of using young people as a shield, as he has done in the past."
The Youth Headquarters also stated, "Even amid turmoil such as the emergency martial law, the impeachment crisis, and the Western District Court incident, young people were pushed to serve as political tools," and added, "The plan to mobilize young soldiers for an illegal martial law scenario clearly shows Mr. Yoon’s perception of young people."
The Youth Headquarters said, "Candidate Lee Jaemyung sees young people as partners in shaping the future together," and added, "We will respond with effective policies such as the Youth Basic Asset Program, Youth National Rental Housing, the creation of local settlement environments, and support for isolated youth."
On the same day, former President Yoon Seokyoul posted a message titled "An Appeal to the People" on Facebook, stating, "The presidential election is not merely a matter of a change in administration, but an election that stands at the crossroads of whether to protect or destroy the free Republic of Korea system. Now, we must unite."
Former President Yoon also said, "To the young generation who love freedom, I ask you once again to join me," and added, "Please recall the courage and conviction we showed last winter during the impeachment crisis, when we joined hands and stood together, never giving in. Rise up again and make your voices heard."
