Han Donghoon: "Pro-Yoon Faction Still Swayed by Yoon Couple... Must Hold Coup Forces Accountable for Party to Recover"

Former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon asserted on May 11 that there must be a thorough investigation into attempts to replace the party's presidential candidate. Defining the series of events as a "coup," Han also raised the issue of whether pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Sukyeol faction) members are still being swayed by former President Yoon Sukyeol and his wife.

On the same day, Han stated via social media, "If the coup has been suppressed but the coup forces remain in their positions, then the coup has not failed but succeeded. For the People Power Party to rise again, the pro-Yoon coup faction must be held properly accountable." He added, "Otherwise, the hope and momentum for conservative politics, which barely began to sprout yesterday, will quickly disappear. There is no future for conservative politics."

Han Donghoon: "Pro-Yoon Faction Still Swayed by Yoon Couple... Must Hold Coup Forces Accountable for Party to Recover" Handong Hoon, the People Power Party's presidential primary candidate, is delivering a concession speech at the 5th party convention held on the 3rd at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, for the selection of the 21st presidential election candidate.

Previously, the People Power Party had selected Kim Moonsoo as its presidential candidate through a party convention. However, as discussions for a single candidacy with former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo, who was an independent, made no progress, the party leadership attempted to replace the candidate through artificial means. In the early hours of the 10th, Kim's candidacy was canceled, Han joined the party, and he became the sole candidate. However, due to significant opposition in a confidence vote among party members, the attempt to replace the candidate ultimately failed.

Labeling the incident as a "coup," Han said, "It seems the pro-Yoon faction wants to gloss over the failed internal coup, saying it's better to just move on. Who was behind the month-long stock price manipulation-like campaign to promote Han Ducksoo, which disrupted our party's presidential race and paved the way for Lee Jaemyung? Why are the pro-Yoon members still being dragged along by former President Yoon Sukyeol and his wife to this extent?" Han further questioned.

Meanwhile, Han also commented separately on social media, assigning meaning to the failed attempt to replace the candidate. He said, "As long as there are reasonable party members, we can clear out the outdated pro-Yoon politics and rebuild the party as a truly rational conservative party, just as yesterday's pro-Yoon internal coup was thwarted."
