Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, visited Hwasun County, Jeonnam on the morning of the 11th as part of his "Listening Tour in Every Alley" to gauge public sentiment.

During his visit, Lee toured a local alley-style shopping district, meeting with residents and stating, "The true owners of the Republic of Korea are its people," and added, "June 3 will mark a new starting point."

He went on to say, "Today, May 11, is the anniversary of the Donghak Peasant Revolution. It is the day the Donghak Peasant Army fought and won," emphasizing, "The fundamental spirit of the Donghak Peasant Revolution?a world of great unity?is exactly the world we dream of today."

He continued, "We fought against internal strife and won," and declared, "Only when the people are the true owners can we build a genuine Republic of Korea."
