Seongsu-dong Street and Seoul Forest Selected for the "2025-2026 Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization for the First Time
The Seongsu-dong district in Seongdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Wonoh) has been newly recognized with a plaque at the Seongsu Tourist Information Center after being selected for the first time as one of the "Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions."
The "Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions" is a list compiled every two years by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, highlighting 100 must-visit destinations for both domestic and international tourists. Seongsu-dong street was included for the first time as a selection for 2025-2026, following big data analysis and three rounds of written and on-site evaluations by tourism experts. Seoul Forest, a green retreat that represents Seoul as a city where nature and culture coexist, was also selected for the "Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions."
In particular, the Seongsu-dong street centered around Yeonmujang-gil is known for its unique atmosphere, where old warehouses and factories built of red brick have been transformed into trendy cafes and cultural spaces, creating a blend of past and present unique to Seongsu-dong. The area has become one of the most popular hotspots nationwide, especially among younger generations.
The number of visitors to the Seongsu Tourist Information Center has continued to rise, reaching 2,789 as of March 2025, a 2.19-fold increase compared to 1,271 in the previous year.
To enhance convenience for tourists, Seongdong-gu began operating the "Seongsu-dong Mobile Tourist Information Center" in July of last year, and this year, operations began earlier in April. Tourist guides circulate around Seongsu Station, Seoul Forest, and Atelier Street, providing tourists with interpretation services, geographical information, and introductions to tourist courses.
Tourist guides in mint-colored uniforms draw visitors' attention by taking commemorative photos with tourists and recommending customized themed travel routes, especially for foreign visitors, offering unique services.
Jung Wonoh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "By preserving the unique identity of red brick architecture, we are leading the sustainable development of Seongsu-dong, which is now established as a global tourist destination attracting many visitors." He added, "As Seongsu-dong has been recognized as one of Korea's leading tourist destinations, we will continue to make even greater efforts to enhance the convenience and satisfaction of tourists and visitors."
