People Power Party's Vote to Replace Presidential Candidate Fails
Han Ducksoo's Camp Accepts the Outcome, Expresses Support for Kim Moonsu
On May 10, former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo's camp stated, "We will humbly accept the will of the people and party members," after the attempt to replace the People Power Party's presidential candidate was rejected.
Han's camp issued this statement after a party-wide vote to replace candidate Kim Moonsu with former Prime Minister Han as the People Power Party's presidential candidate was voted down. "We sincerely hope that candidate Kim Moonsu and the People Power Party will achieve victory in this presidential election," the statement read.
Han's camp added, "We are grateful for all the interest, support, advice, and criticism we have received," and said, "We will promptly inform you of any future plans, including press conferences, as soon as they are decided."
On this day, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the People Power Party held a vote among all party members to decide whether to replace candidate Kim with former Prime Minister Han. As a result, more members opposed the change than supported it, so the proposal was rejected. Consequently, candidate Kim Moonsu has regained his qualification as the People Power Party's presidential candidate.
