The National Police Agency announced on the 12th that it will operate an 'Integrated Election Security Situation Room' in preparation for the 21st presidential election.
The Integrated Election Security Situation Room will remain in operation until the conclusion of vote counting on June 3, and will oversee the situation rooms of 18 provincial police agencies and 259 police stations nationwide.
The Integrated Election Security Situation Room is responsible for maintaining a 24-hour response system for police election security activities, including security at campaign sites, protection of candidates and other key figures, ballot box transportation, and security at polling and counting stations.
Lee Hoyoung, Acting Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated, "The safety of candidates, key figures, and all locations requiring security, such as polling and counting stations, is of utmost importance," and added, "Please do your best to ensure that this election is concluded safely without any unexpected incidents."
