Naver Pay Introduces Pre-Approval for 'Family Payment'

"Payments Now Possible Without Representative Approval"

Naver Pay (Npay) announced on May 9 that it has enhanced its 'Family Payment' feature so that pre-approved members can make payments without requiring approval from the family representative each time.

Npay Family Payment is a service launched in May last year that allows Naver Plus Membership family members to place orders on Naver Shopping, which are then paid for by the family representative. After payment, the representative earns Npay points, while members can easily track deliveries or request returns for their orders. Family Payment can also be used for N Delivery, Naver Grocery Shopping, and Shopping Live products.

The family representative is granted authority to reject payments and manage family payment members. Previously, the representative had to approve every payment request made by family members. Going forward, members who have been pre-approved by the representative will be able to use Family Payment without requiring the representative's approval for each transaction.

The representative can set up automatic payment methods and assign an automatic approval payment limit for each member. Payments up to 100,000 KRW per transaction can be made without individual approval, as long as they remain within the monthly limit set by the representative. Family members will be able to pay for a wider variety of products more conveniently than before.

The total transaction amount for the Family Payment service has increased tenfold in the year since its launch. As of last month, there were 870,000 registered users. Approximately 54% of users are spouses, and about 42% are siblings, children, or parents, indicating that family-based payments are highly active.

Npay is also running a Family Month event in May. Until the 18th, users of the Family Payment service will have a chance to win up to 50,000 points through a lottery. All family representatives will receive 1,000 points.

An Npay representative stated, "We are considering expanding the Family Payment service to Naver Reservations, ordering, external online merchants, and offline in-store payments. We also plan to further enhance the service so that it can be used by those who are not Naver Plus Membership members."
