Providing Learning Opportunities in Local Community Centers and Neighborhoods
Aiming to Establish a Virtuous Cycle Model for Lifelong Learning Accessible Anytime, Anywhere
Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it has designated three local community centers as "Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Centers," which will operate until the end of the year, so that residents can enjoy high-quality learning opportunities close to their daily lives.
The "Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Center" is a community-based learning space where education takes place in available spaces such as nearby community centers, welfare centers, and local workshops. This helps reduce the inconvenience of having to visit a central lifelong learning center and allows residents to learn and communicate together with their neighbors.
The district has designated the Dangsan 1-dong, Singil 5-dong, and Singil 7-dong community centers as Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Centers, operating them until the end of June. The courses offered are those with high demand and satisfaction among residents, including ▲Traditional Liquor Brewing Filled with the Atmosphere of Spring ▲Leather Accessories Making Class ▲Emotional Sketch Drawing ▲European Art Museum Tour.
A variety of interests and needs have been reflected so that anyone, including office workers, young adults, and students, can participate.
The district will assign dedicated lifelong learning managers to each Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Center to provide counseling, program guidance, and needs assessment, creating a distinctive Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Center unique to Yeongdeungpo.
Starting in July, the district will offer practical, daily-life-oriented courses such as digital education, financial education, and exercise, which are of high interest to residents. In addition, the district plans to gradually designate Neighborhood Lifelong Learning Centers in all 18 neighborhoods, providing residents with a variety of learning opportunities.
Furthermore, to ensure that anyone can learn, share, and grow, the district will establish a "virtuous cycle model of lifelong learning" and foster talent-sharing instructors. It will also sign business agreements with prestigious universities to offer high-quality university lectures.
Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "I hope everyone will be able to enjoy the joy of lifelong learning close to home," and added, "We will continue to identify the diverse learning needs of our residents and build a solid learning foundation to make Yeongdeungpo a place where learning becomes a part of daily life."
