Foreign Safety Leaders are foreign workers who are fluent in both Korean and their native languages. They are expected to serve as interpreters for occupational safety and health education both inside and outside the workplace, respond to emergencies, and play a key role in encouraging workers to voluntarily practice safety and promote a culture of safety at worksites.
At this inauguration ceremony, 11 foreign workers from nine countries (China, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Myanmar) were appointed as Foreign Safety Leaders. The event included the following: training for Foreign Safety Leaders, presentation of appointment certificates, commemorative photography, and an activity briefing and Q&A session.
Jeong Jongdeuk, head of the Busan Regional Headquarters, stated, "Communication and trust with foreign workers are essential to ensuring their safety at industrial sites. I hope that the newly trained Safety Leaders will serve as a strong bridge in creating a voluntary safety culture together with their fellow foreign workers."
