Sign Business Agreement for 'Hi-Five Safety Project' to Protect Foreign Workers in Western Busan Industrial Complexes

On Thursday, May 8, the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Jung Jongdeuk) signed a business agreement for the 'Hi-Five Safety Project' with related organizations and associations, including the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. The agreement aims to strengthen the safety of foreign workers in the western Busan industrial complexes (Myeongji National Industrial Complex and Sinpyeong-Jangnim General Industrial Complex).

The organizations and associations participating in the agreement include the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Environment Corporation, the Busan-Ulsan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, the Gangseo Fire Station of Busan Metropolitan City, Sejeong, Gabeul Noksan Hospital, the Busan Southern Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Health Association, the Busan Foreign Workers Support Center, Together with Migrants, and Noksan Migrant House.


The 'Hi-Five Safety Project' is a joint initiative among these organizations to address safety blind spots and strengthen community safety management for foreign workers, focusing on the areas of clothing, food, housing, healthcare, and culture. Approximately 40 people attended the event, where the business agreement was signed and discussions on safety were held.


Key activities of the project include: providing safety vests, personal protective equipment, and daily work clothes; offering nutrition and health education; conducting workplace accident prevention inspection campaigns and training; offering free health check-ups; supporting worker self-reliance (such as counseling and Korean language education); and organizing cultural events and providing safety and health information.


Jung Jongdeuk, head of the Busan Regional Headquarters, stated, "We will take the lead in field-oriented safety and health activities to prevent industrial accidents among foreign workers in the western Busan industrial complexes."
