Three Varieties Released:
"Chardonnay," "Pinot Noir," and "Single Vineyard Pinot Noir"
Prince Hill Vineyards is a winery established in 1983 by Dick Erath, a pioneer of Oregon Pinot Noir. Dick Erath, recognized as a trailblazer for Oregon Pinot Noir, determined that Oregon's unique climate and soil were ideal for cultivating Pinot Noir, and he settled in the region to begin wine production. Prince Hill Vineyards stands as his representative winery, producing wines that reflect his philosophy and techniques.
The vineyards of Prince Hill Vineyards are geographically exposed to various elevations and orientations, which allows for optimal grape ripening and imparts a diverse depth of flavor. In particular, the widespread presence of nutrient-rich, highly moisture-retentive Jory clay soil across the estate creates a favorable environment for grapevines to thrive without the need for additional irrigation.
Prince Hill Vineyards Willamette Valley Chardonnay is regarded as a quintessential Chardonnay representing the Willamette Valley, embodying the region's unique characteristics. The wine harmoniously blends citrus blossom and stone fruit aromas, with a notable acidity featuring chamomile, orange, and hazelnut flavors.
Prince Hill Vineyards Dundee Hills Pinot Noir displays a pale purple hue with ruby tones. It is distinguished by berry notes such as black cherry and strawberry, as well as hints of ginger and cola. The wine is further characterized by floral aromas and a dense tannin texture.
Prince Hill Vineyards Single Vineyards Dundee Hills Pinot Noir offers harmonious aromas of blackberry and cherry, complemented by dark cocoa, violet flowers, and mint herbs. This wine is celebrated for its complexity and diversity, and is considered a quintessential example of authentic Oregon winemaking.
