Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping adopted a joint statement on May 8 (local time) after their summit, calling for further deepening of bilateral relations.


According to RIA Novosti, President Putin and President Xi signed a joint statement at the Kremlin on the same day, agreeing to further strengthen their comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation in a new era. The two leaders also signed a joint statement on global strategic stability and an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments during their meeting.


President Putin described his talks with President Xi as highly productive and assessed that bilateral relations have "reached their highest level in history." He also emphasized that the two countries share common or similar approaches to major international issues.


Afterward, President Putin and President Xi were scheduled to hold informal discussions over an official luncheon and tea time, during which they planned to address sensitive topics such as negotiations to end the war in Ukraine and tariff issues.
