Honam University announced on May 8 that it will hold a "Comics·Animation Practical Skills Competition" on June 14 for high school students nationwide, aiming to discover talented individuals in the comics and animation fields and to promote creative activities.
This competition, which offers a total prize pool of 1.6 million won and scholarships upon admission, will take place in the practical skills room of the Academic Building (Building 1) at Honam University. Applications can be submitted until June 2, and the participation fee is 40,000 won. Applicants must submit an application form, a consent form for personal information, and a payment confirmation. A receipt will be issued to each participant.
Awards will be presented in various categories, including the Grand Prize (President's Award), Gold Prize, Silver Prize, Bronze Prize, Special Selection, and Honorable Mention. The Grand Prize winner will receive a certificate and a cash prize of 500,000 won. The Gold Prize winner will receive 300,000 won (1 recipient), Silver Prize winners will receive 200,000 won each (2 recipients), and Bronze Prize winners will receive 100,000 won each (4 recipients).
Eligibility and entry categories: The competition is open to current high school students, graduates, and those who have passed the qualification exam nationwide. The entry categories are "Cut Comics" and "Situation Expression." For each category, participants must complete a work in the size of quarter imperial paper within four hours.
A representative from Honam University stated, "We hope that this competition will help us discover high school students with outstanding talent and provide them with various creative opportunities," adding, "Winners will be awarded scholarships upon admission to the university and opportunities to exhibit their works."
