A Total of 588 Couples Have Celebrated Joint Weddings Since 2000

In Chungnam Province, 33 couples with disabilities began a new chapter in their lives by lighting the wedding candles and pledging lifelong commitment to each other through a joint wedding ceremony.
The 25th Chungnam Province Joint Wedding Ceremony for People with Disabilities was held in grand fashion on the morning of May 8 at Seonhwadang in Gongju. The event was attended by over 1,000 people, including Jeon Hyungsik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Chungnam Province; Song Mugyeong, Deputy Mayor of Gongju; Sung Woojong, Chairman of the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea; as well as heads of various organizations, guests, and local residents.
This joint wedding ceremony for people with disabilities was organized by the Chungnam Association for the Physically Disabled and sponsored by the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea. Sung Woojong, Chairman of the Community Chest, officiated the ceremony, which proceeded with congratulatory remarks from Deputy Governor Jeon Hyungsik, commendations for distinguished contributors, a congratulatory song, exchange of wedding gifts, and group photos.
The joint wedding ceremony for people with disabilities is an event aimed at helping couples with disabilities who have been unable to hold a wedding due to financial difficulties. Since its inception in 2000, a total of 588 couples have celebrated their weddings through this event as of this year.
Jeon Hyungsik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Chungnam Province, said, "I give a big round of applause to the 33 couples who have trusted and relied on each other, overcoming hardships together for a long time. I wish you all endless blessings and happiness in your future together."
