National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Opens Venice Touring Exhibition to Mark Korea-Italy Year of Cultural Exchange

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art's Venice touring exhibition, "For All That Breathes on This Land: Jung Youngsun and Collaborators," commemorating the "2024-2025 Year of Korea-Italy Mutual Cultural Exchange," opened on the 7th (local time).

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Yong Hoseong, the First Vice Minister, attended the opening ceremony that day and conveyed his congratulations and gratitude to the artists and related personnel.

Yong Hoseong, the First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, delivered a congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art's Venice touring exhibition "For All That Breathes on This Land: Jung Youngsun and Collaborators," held on the 7th (local time) at the San Marco Art Center in Venice, Italy.

This exhibition was organized as a special exhibition marking the opening of the San Marco Art Center, at the invitation of the center. The San Marco Art Center, established in the 16th century, has been newly transformed into a multi-purpose exhibition space by British architect David Chipperfield, who renovated the Procuratie, formerly used as a Venetian administrative office. Chipperfield, the 2023 laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize?often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture?is participating in this exhibition as a collaborator.

Yong Hoseong stated, "This exhibition, as the result of collaboration among various artists, allows us to see how physical elements have functioned within the space of society," adding, "Visitors will be able to appreciate how physical spaces have transformed our lives." He also said, "I hope this opportunity will allow the people of Korea and Italy to feel closer through art, and I would like to express my gratitude to the participating artists."

Yong Hoseong also plans to attend the opening ceremony of the Korean Pavilion at the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture on May 9, where he will encourage the artistic director and participating artists.
