Muan County Selected as Excellent Institution in 2025 Food Safety Management Evaluation

Recognition for Field-Oriented Hygiene Management Efforts

Muan County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) announced on May 8 that it had been selected as an excellent institution in the "2025 Food Safety Management Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

The Food Safety Management Evaluation is conducted annually to discover and share best practices and to improve the level of food safety management. It comprehensively evaluates the performance of food management systems and hygiene management among 245 local governments nationwide.

The evaluation indicators consisted of a total of seven categories, including the rate of inspections and detection at businesses, the utilization rate of on-site reporting equipment, the record of recalling hazardous foods, the rate of handling civil complaints within the deadline, and the rate of handling foreign substance reports within the deadline. The evaluation was carried out through an internal review by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and a final assessment by the evaluation committee for selecting excellent institutions.

The county was recognized for its field-oriented and proactive efforts in food safety management, such as thorough inspections of hygiene-related businesses and prompt handling of civil complaints, and was evaluated as having achieved exemplary results among local governments nationwide.

Governor Kim San stated, "This award is the result of our continuous efforts to prioritize the health and safety of our residents," and added, "We will continue to create a trustworthy food environment and build a safe and healthy Muan County."
