The Chungnam Office of Education announced that it designated May 8 as the "3rd Sports Day" and held a variety of sports events to mark the occasion.

The School Sports Week and Sports Day were adjusted to suit the circumstances of each school, reflecting feedback from the field that the previously implemented "Sports Week" and "Sports Day" under the existing Framework Act on Sports overlapped with school exam schedules and posed operational difficulties.

Major events for Sports Day included "Healthy Walking 365," which encouraged staff to walk to work for health promotion, a three-line and four-line poem contest to promote policy initiatives, and a photo contest under the theme of fostering a culture of integrity and respect for human rights in school sports teams.

In addition, the office organized physical fitness assessments and exercise prescriptions for staff in collaboration with the Chungnam Sports Science Center, experiences with educational information technology health and fitness classes, opportunities to participate in sports clubs, and community sports activities by opening educational facilities to local residents.

The provincial education office also plans to designate one week during May and October, when school sports festivals are held at all schools in the province, as "Sports Week," and to designate one day within that week as "Sports Day," during which a variety of sports events will be held.

Superintendent Kim Jicheol stated, "Operating Sports Week tailored to the realities of schools is a very meaningful change," and added, "We will actively support students so that they can take the initiative to participate in a variety of sports activities, thereby improving not only their physical strength but also their mental health."
