Five-Minute Free Speech...
Proposal for Establishing a Population Policy Control Tower
On May 8, Baek Jonghan, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council representing Hwajeong 3-dong, Hwajeong 4-dong, and Pungam-dong, called for the advancement of the Pungam Intersection underpass project and other initiatives during a "five-minute free speech" session at the 2nd plenary meeting of the 330th extraordinary session.
Assemblyman Baek addressed two main topics: he urged the Seo-gu District Office to take an active administrative approach to the Pungam Intersection underpass project, and he called for the establishment of a population policy control tower to address the issue of population decline.
Baek stated, "Although Gwangju City is the main party responsible for the Pungam Intersection underpass project, the level of interest shown by the Seo-gu District Office can make a difference in the project's completion timeline and safety." He emphasized that active administration by the Seo-gu District Office is necessary to expedite the project by designating it as a traffic congestion improvement initiative and utilizing public contribution funds from the private park special project.
Baek also pointed out that the population of Seo-gu has decreased by 50,000 over the past ten years, and concluded his remarks by urging the establishment of a population policy control tower to address the decline.
