Yeongyang County to Host "Yeongyang Wild Edible Plants Food Festival" to Overcome Wildfire Damage

The "Yeongyang Wild Edible Plants Food Festival" will be held in the area around Yeongyang County Office from May 9 to May 11 to comfort wildfire victims and help overcome the damage caused by the wildfires.

Instead of the county's representative festival, the "Yeongyang Wild Edible Plants Festival," the county will install a "Wildfire Theme Pavilion" to raise awareness of the wildfire situation and foster empathy, and will also run a fundraising event, all in an effort to share the pain of wildfire victims and support them rather than holding performances.

Kim (female, age 70), a participant in the Wild Edible Plants Food Festival, said, "There are so many people around me who have lost everything due to the wildfire," and expressed her intention to participate by saying, "I plan to donate 20% of the proceeds to help wildfire victims."

In addition to the donation event, a "Special Street for Assorted Jeon" will be set up, offering a variety of spring-flavored jeon, as well as unique foods such as "Eunhasu Makgeolli" in collaboration with "Fermentation Workshop 1991."

There will also be a program where participants can harvest wild edible plants themselves under the pristine nature of Mount Ilwol, and a wild edible plants market where visitors can select wild plants directly.

County Governor Oh Dochang said, "Just visiting Yeongyang County during these difficult times is a form of support," and added, "I ask you to visit the 'Wild Edible Plants Food Festival,' which the county has carefully prepared, and help us overcome the damage caused by the wildfires."
