Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 8 that it will conduct crackdowns on illegal banners and various unauthorized advertisements that damage the cityscape and threaten citizen safety during the campaign period for the 21st presidential election.

The city stated that, in particular, illegal banners for commercial purposes, such as apartment and commercial property sales, will be designated as the top priority for enforcement and will be strictly regulated during this period.
Pyeongtaek City plans to form joint enforcement teams with the main office and local administrative units, including towns and districts, to focus inspections on illegal banners along major roads, intersections, areas near stations, and densely populated residential neighborhoods. Illegal banners will be removed immediately, and for businesses that repeatedly violate regulations, the city will also impose strong administrative measures such as fines.
A city official said, "We will respond firmly and without exception to unauthorized postings of commercial advertisements that exploit the election campaign period."
