"Lowers Perceived Temperature by Up to 6 Degrees"...Toray Advanced Materials Develops Cooling Material 'Snowren'

High Thermal Conductivity Lowers Perceived Temperature by 3 to 6 Degrees
"Demand for Cooling Materials Rises Due to Heat Waves"

Toray Advanced Materials has independently developed "Snowren," a functional cooling material that disperses heat immediately upon contact with the skin, providing a cooling effect.

On May 8, Toray Advanced Materials announced the development of its new product "Snowren," which features high thermal conductivity and can lower the perceived skin temperature by approximately 3 to 6 degrees Celsius upon contact. This material is made from a cooling yarn that is harmless to the human body and helps regulate body temperature during the summer. In addition, it is resistant to contamination, hygienic, allows sweat to be released easily, and dries quickly. The company stated that Snowren's lightweight and soft texture makes it suitable for a wide range of products that come into direct contact with the skin, such as bedding and clothing.

A representative from Toray Advanced Materials said, "Demand for cooling materials continues to grow due to heat waves and climate change," and added, "We aim to increase consumer trust by developing new materials that align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) trends."

Meanwhile, Toray Advanced Materials plans to introduce a cooling pad that combines Snowren with deodorizing fiber through CJ OnStyle at 6:30 p.m. on May 9. This product also features functionality to reduce unpleasant odors such as sweat. The company plans to expand the application of cooling materials beyond clothing to a wide range of home fashion products in the future.
