'TIPS Family Day' Brings Together Startups and Experts
to Share Achievements and Discuss Future Directions
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on May 8 that it held the 'TIPS Family Day' at El Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, with approximately 400 participants including TIPS operating companies, selected startups, support organizations, and experts.
This event was organized to share the achievements of the TIPS program and discuss future development directions, focusing on the operating companies that have led the successful operation of TIPS. TIPS is a system in which operating companies selected by the Ministry utilize private sector expertise and capabilities to select startups, while the government provides support for technology development (R&D) and startup commercialization funding. To date, more than 3,700 startups supported by TIPS have attracted follow-up investments totaling 15.8 trillion won and created over 23,000 new jobs, establishing TIPS as a leading public-private cooperation program. CB Insights, a U.S.-based data analysis and research firm, also selected TIPS as one of the global top 4 accelerators.
At the event, the following sessions were held: expert presentations on the contributions and achievements of TIPS in the startup ecosystem; sharing of TIPS policy directions and future plans for 2025; introductions to the operational directions of newly selected TIPS lead organizations; and reverse pitching of outstanding programs by operating companies.
Minister Oh Youngju of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated, "The success of the TIPS program is due to the insight of the operating companies that invested in the potential of startups while taking on the risk of failure based on technological possibilities, as well as their close support for the companies they invested in." She added, "By sharing the key achievements and future policy directions of the TIPS program, I hope that the program will take another leap forward and that the synergy of public-private cooperation will be further strengthened."
