Saudi Oil Money Sets Sights on Women's Golf

Establishment of the Women's Golf PIF Global Series
Five Tournaments in Saudi Arabia, Korea, the United States, and More
PIF Covers Both Prize Money and Operating Expenses

Saudi Arabia's oil money is targeting the women's golf world.


On May 8, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Golf Saudi announced the launch of the women's professional golf 'PIF Global Series.' The 'PIF Global Series' consists of five tournaments held in five countries: Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China. This demonstrates PIF's long-term and sustained commitment to women's sports.

Charley Hull (England) said, "'The PIF Global Series is another turning point for the Ladies European Tour (LET). I hope this series will inspire more young generations to take an interest in golf."


The tournaments include the Saudi Ladies International held at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia in February, the Aramco Korea Championship at New Korea Country Club in South Korea in May, the PIF Championship at Centurion Club in the United Kingdom in August, the Aramco Houston Championship in Texas, United States in September, and the Aramco Shenzhen Championship at Mission Hills in Shenzhen, China in November.


PIF is providing both the prize money and operating expenses for all these tournaments. The Saudi Ladies International offers a total prize fund of $5 million, while each of the other four tournaments offers a total prize fund of $2 million.
