Meets International Standards Including Quantum Dot Optical Components
A Total of 9 Series Certified
Strengthening Trust in QLED Technology
On May 8, Samsung Electronics announced that its flagship product, the QLED TV, has received the 'Real Quantum Dot Display' certification from the German testing and certification organization TUV Rheinland.

With this certification, Samsung Electronics' QLED TV has been officially recognized for its QLED structure based on international standards. This is expected to secure differentiated competitiveness in the market and further strengthen brand trust.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), in its 62595-1-6 standard, stipulates that "a quantum dot display must include quantum dot optical components such as a quantum dot film and a blue light backlight."
TUV Rheinland evaluated that Samsung Electronics' QLED TV meets these IEC standards and granted the certification. The organization also stated that, based on spectrum measurements, the optical spectrum clearly distinguishes the three colors: red (R), green (G), and blue (B).
Quantum dots are nanometer-sized particles, thousands of times smaller than a strand of hair, and have attracted attention as a key material for premium displays due to their ability to precisely express colors depending on the wavelength of light.
When quantum dots are used, their narrow wavelength and high fluorescence make it easy to accurately reproduce a wide range of colors. In contrast, when ordinary phosphors are used instead of quantum dots, multiple spectra can be generated from a single color.
With this certification, a total of nine Samsung Electronics product series have now received the 'Real Quantum Dot Display' certification: two Neo QLED 8K models (QNF990, QNF950), four Neo QLED 4K models (QNF90, QNF85, QNF80, QNF70), and three QLED 4K models (QF8, QF7, QF6).
Son Taeyong, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business Division, said, "This certification objectively proves that Samsung QLED is a true quantum dot display with a structure and performance that meets international standards. We will continue to pursue technological innovation and reliability to maintain our leadership in the premium TV market."
Meanwhile, in addition to this certification, Samsung Electronics' QLED TV has also been recognized for the excellence of its cadmium-free quantum dot technology, which is harmless to the human body, by SGS, a global certification body headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
