Through Meta Demi, the platform of Raon Meta, a subsidiary of Raon Secure, it will now be possible to practice the practical examination for the Korean Medical Licensing Examination in a virtual reality (VR) environment.

On May 8, Raon Meta (CEO Lee Soonhyung), a company specializing in generative AI-based metaverse platforms, announced that it would collaborate with Minds AI (CEO Seok Jeongho), a wellness digital solutions company, to jointly develop medical content such as physical examination practice for the metaverse-based Clinical Performance Examination (CPX) of the Korean Medical Licensing Examination.

Raon Meta and Minds AI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreed to establish a cooperative system for sharing medical practice content, exchanging technology, and conducting joint research and development through Meta Demi, Raon Meta's generative AI-based metaverse practice platform.

Recently, South Korea became the first country in Asia to introduce CPX (Clinical Performance Examination) and OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as practical exams for the medical licensing examination. While OSCE allows for the practice and evaluation of basic clinical skills, CPX evaluates the entire process of medical care?including patient interview, diagnosis, and prescription?using standardized patients who act as simulated patients. As a result, the need for practical training during CPX preparation has become increasingly emphasized.

As their first collaborative project, the two companies will integrate Minds AI's CPX practice content into Meta Demi. This content is designed to help prospective doctors preparing for the CPX physical examination practical test experience scenarios similar to the actual exam in a virtual reality (VR) environment. The AI-based virtual patient in the metaverse responds to the trainee's voice commands and moves its pupils according to the direction indicated by the trainee's finger, mimicking the reactions of a real patient. This enables users to practice facial neurological examinations, limb neurological examinations, cerebellar neurological examinations, chest examinations, and abdominal examinations through Meta Demi.

In the practical exam for the Korean Medical Licensing Examination, standardized patients trained to act as patients are used for diagnosis. However, by utilizing Meta Demi, it is expected that trainees will be able to practice diagnosis without actual simulated patients, greatly improving both the efficiency and accessibility of medical education.

Previously, Raon Meta has applied the metaverse-based practice environment of Meta Demi to medical education fields such as laboratory animal autopsy practice, nursing skills practice, and physical therapy practice. This not only accelerates the digital transformation of medical training but also receives positive responses for reducing educational costs and addressing bioethics issues.

In addition to CPX practice, Minds AI possesses a wide range of digital healthcare capabilities, including mental health diagnostic and VR-based therapeutic medical devices, as well as diagnostic medical devices for mild cognitive impairment in the elderly. The company has been selected as one of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Top 1,000 Innovative Companies" and "Baby Unicorn 200 Companies." Going forward, the two companies plan to continue their collaboration in content and technology exchange to lead the metaverse-based digital healthcare sector.

Yoon Wonseok, Head of Meta Academy Business Division at Raon Meta, said, "Through our collaboration with Minds AI, we are now able to provide tangible benefits to both medical students and patients. We will continue to expand essential content for the medical field and lead innovation in the digital healthcare sector."
