Samsung to Unveil Ultra-Slim Galaxy S25 Edge on May 13

'Beyond Slim' Unpacked Invitation Video Released
Expected to Be the Thinnest Galaxy Smartphone Ever

Samsung Electronics will unveil the 'ultra-slim phone' Galaxy S25 Edge model through an online Unpacked event on May 13.

On May 8, Samsung Electronics released a video invitation for the online Unpacked event through its newsroom. The event, titled 'Galaxy S25 Edge: Beyond Slim,' will be held online at 9 a.m. on May 13.

Through the invitation, Samsung Electronics stated, "Everyone has dreamed at least once of a smartphone that is thin and light, yet delivers powerful performance and innovation," and introduced the new model in the Galaxy S25 series as "a powerful AI partner that embodies the essence of Samsung Electronics' technology, combining both performance and portability."

The Galaxy S25 Edge, which will be unveiled at this event, is expected to be a new addition to Samsung Electronics' flagship smartphone lineup after a long absence. Until now, Samsung Electronics has structured the Galaxy S series, released every year in the first half, into three models: standard, Plus (large display), and Ultra (high performance).

The key feature of the Edge model is its slim thickness. According to the IT industry, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to have a thickness of 5.8mm. This is about 1.4mm thinner than the standard Galaxy S25 model (7.2mm), making it the thinnest among all Galaxy series to date. The display size is expected to be 6.7 inches, and the weight is expected to be 163g. While the screen size is the same as the Galaxy S25 Plus model, the weight is on par with the standard model (162g).

The performance is also expected to be on par with the existing Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S25 Edge is projected to be equipped with Qualcomm's Galaxy-exclusive application processor (AP), the Snapdragon 8 Elite, as well as 12GB of RAM. As it features the latest chipset, it will also support 'Galaxy AI' functions.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is reportedly priced at 1.5 million won for the 256GB model and 1.63 million won for the 512GB model. The Galaxy S25 Edge will be launched first in Korea and China after the Unpacked event. Subsequently, it will be rolled out in major global markets, including the United States, starting in late May.

The Galaxy S25 Edge was previously showcased in person at 'Galaxy Unpacked 2025' held in San Jose, California in January, and at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain in March. However, as the product had not been officially released at the time, hands-on experience with the actual device was limited.
