"Residents to Block Voice Phishing"… Gyeonggi Province to Train Professional Instructors

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government is recruiting participants for a training program to cultivate professional instructors specializing in the prevention of telecommunications financial fraud until May 30.

On May 8, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that, in accordance with the "Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Plan for the Prevention and Support of Telecommunications Financial Fraud Victims (2025?2029)" established last month, it will conduct a professional instructor training program for Gyeonggi residents who have prior experience as instructors in fraud prevention education, financial education, or consumer education. The number of participants to be recruited is 50.

For these participants, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will provide in-depth training from June 11 to June 20, covering major types of telecommunications financial fraud, case studies from the 112 Integrated Response Reporting Center, responses by telecommunications companies to prevent phishing damage, and procedures for payment suspension by financial institutions.

Applicants must register as members on the Gyeonggi Lifelong Learning Portal, GSEEK, and submit their application forms online via the offline learning course bulletin board. The results of the instructor course selection will be individually notified by text message on June 9.

Professional instructors who complete this course will be given the opportunity to participate as instructors in telecommunications financial fraud prevention education programs promoted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government in the second half of this year.

Seo Bongja, Director of the Fair Economy Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "With the advancement of digital technology, voice phishing techniques are rapidly evolving, and the amount of damage per victim is increasing, making the situation more serious. Since prevention is the most important aspect of phishing damage, we hope that many residents will participate so that this program can cultivate professional instructors who will serve as ambassadors for phishing prevention."
