137 Young Men and Women from Gyeongbuk Participate
A Natural Setting for New Connections
Gyeongbuk Sangju City announced on May 8 that it successfully concluded the "Datehae On Sangju" singles meeting program, which was held over two days and one night from May 3 to May 4.
This program was designed to provide natural opportunities for unmarried men and women, born between 1997 and 1984, who either reside in Gyeongbuk or work at companies located in Gyeongbuk. The event attracted significant interest from participants.
A total of 137 people from various professions?including public institutions, Nonghyup, post offices, dentists, nurses, agriculture and livestock workers, and daycare teachers?applied to participate in the event, demonstrating the high level of engagement among young people in the region.
On the first day of the program, participants attended a special lecture on charming communication at Seongjubong Natural Recreation Forest to break the ice, followed by rotation group conversations and a couple team-building sports event, giving them time to get to know each other.
On the second day, the group moved to the Sangju Bicycle Museum, where they participated in one-on-one matching talks, allowing for deeper conversations and the opportunity to confirm their feelings for each other. As a result, nine couples were successfully matched, achieving the goal of facilitating natural connections.
Ko Doohwan, Director of Population Policy at Sangju City, stated, "We hope that the nine couples who were matched through this program will move on to relationships, marriage, and childbirth, contributing to a tangible increase in the population." He added, "Buoyed by the strong interest from local youth, we plan to expand singles meeting programs in the future."
The city expects that this program will provide young people with the opportunity to consider marriage and childbirth and contribute to an increase in the local population.
