This project, the first of its kind in the North Gyeongsang region, will be open to participating companies through a public application process until May 28, according to the city's announcement on May 8.

The initiative aims to discover and support companies that have established women-friendly workplaces based on a culture of gender equality, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of local businesses and promoting sustainable employment for women.

Eligible applicants are small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Gumi City for at least two years, with between 10 and 300 regular employees, and with women making up at least 10% of the workforce.

The city will conduct document and on-site evaluations based on detailed certification criteria, such as gender equality, women's employment and welfare, and support for work-life balance. After review, seven companies will be selected as final recipients.

Selected companies will receive a Women-Friendly Company certification and plaque from Gumi City, as well as up to 20 million won (with a 10% company contribution) to improve their workplace environment.

In addition, a variety of administrative and financial incentives will be provided, including improvements to facilities for women employees, sexual harassment prevention training, and corporate promotion support.

Notably, companies will also benefit from related programs such as the "Work-Life Balance Job Incentive" and consulting provided by the Gumi Branch of the Ministry of Labor, as well as ESG voucher support from the Gumi Chamber of Commerce, offering substantial practical benefits.

The city plans to complete document and on-site evaluations in June and begin awarding certifications and providing workplace improvement support from July. At the end of the year, a satisfaction survey and project performance review will be conducted, and operational plans for the following year will be established.

Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, emphasized, "An environment where women can work comfortably is directly linked to the city's competitiveness and is an investment in the future. Through this certification project, local companies will be able to pursue sustainable growth, and women will be able to continue stable lives without career interruption."
