Senior Jobs in Gangseo District Increase to 5,433 This Year

Gangseo District in Seoul has opened the second branch of the senior store 'Hansulduchan' near Gimpo Airport to create jobs for the elderly.

The newly opened Hansulduchan 2nd branch is located near Korea Airports Corporation and Wooridle Hospital within Gimpo Airport, covering an area of 176.8 square meters. It sells handmade lunch boxes, stews, tteokbokki, sundae, and other snack foods. The store plans to employ 80 seniors aged 60 or older, and it will be operated by the Seoul Gangseo Senior Club Senior Job Community Project Group.

The seniors will be directly involved in various tasks, including ingredient preparation, cooking, sales, and store management. The operation is structured so that the profits are returned to the seniors, creating a virtuous cycle. The store operates on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is closed on weekends.

This second branch follows the first store, which opened in Banghwa-dong in 2023. Including Hansulduchan, Gangseo District now has 14 community project group stores directly operated by seniors, such as senior convenience stores, cafes, and workshops.

Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo District, stated, "We will continue to focus on creating jobs that utilize the capabilities of seniors, including public interest jobs."

Meanwhile, the number of senior jobs in Gangseo District increased by 52%, from 3,566 in 2023 to 5,433 this year, following Mayor Jin Kyohun's inauguration.
