The 2025 10,000 KRW rental housing program in Hwasun County, Jeonnam Province (Governor Koo Bokgyu), which has been highly praised nationwide as an exemplary policy, recorded a competition rate of 11.4 to 1.


On May 7, Hwasun County announced that 498 people had applied for the 'Hwasun County 10,000 KRW Rental Housing for Youth and Newlyweds,' once again confirming the strong demand among young people for the 10,000 KRW rental housing.


The recruitment targeted 40 units for youth and 60 units for newlyweds. As a result, 458 youth and 40 newlyweds applied, resulting in competition rates of 11.4 to 1 and 0.6 to 1, respectively. Last year, the competition rate among youth applicants for the 10,000 KRW rental housing was 12 to 1.


Among the applicants, 200 people, or 40% of the total, were residents from outside Hwasun County. By age group, there were 2 applicants aged 19 or younger, 242 applicants aged 20 to 29, 205 applicants aged 30 to 39, and 49 applicants aged 40 to 49, with those aged 29 or younger accounting for 49% of all applicants.


Hwasun County plans to announce the list of lottery candidates and the lottery date on the Hwasun County Office website on May 30.


Cho Mihwa, Director of the Population and Youth Policy Division of Hwasun County, said, "The fact that nearly 500 people have applied for the Hwasun County 10,000 KRW rental housing project in its third year proves the strong desire for stable housing among youth and newlyweds," adding, "We will continue to provide high-quality housing so that young people can settle stably in Hwasun County."


Meanwhile, the 20 newlywed-type units that were not filled in this recruitment will be open for additional applications for one week from May 8 to May 14.
