On May 7, the Ministry of Justice announced that 90 individuals who passed the 14th bar exam as graduates of law schools (commonly known as "law schools") have been newly appointed as prosecutors.
After undergoing assessments of practical record-keeping and organizational competency, the newly appointed prosecutors include 49 men and 41 women. The number of new prosecutors appointed from law schools last year was 93, marking the highest figure since the introduction of law school-based prosecutor appointments. In 2023, the number of new appointees was 76.
The new prosecutors will undergo approximately six months of practical training at the Legal Research and Training Institute, after which they are scheduled to be assigned to local prosecutors' offices around November to begin their official duties.
The Ministry of Justice stated, "In order to enhance the rights and interests of the public through thorough and prompt case handling, it is urgent to increase the number of prosecutors. Taking this into consideration, we have appointed 90 prosecutors again this year, following last year's appointments."
