Mayor Lee first shared the achievement of Goyang City being selected as the top institution in the '2025 First Quarter Local Finance Rapid Execution Assessment' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "From the beginning of the year, we executed more than 150 billion KRW above the government's target amount and secured a special grant tax of 100 million KRW," and added, "Rapid fiscal execution is a priming force for the recovery of the people's economy, so please continue to focus on improving the quality of life for citizens."
In recognition of May as 'Family Month,' Mayor Lee once again urged public officials to adhere to fundamentals and principles.
Mayor Lee stated, "Drunk driving by public officials is a serious crime that cannot be excused even once," and added, "During times when there are many events and gatherings, an even more mature attitude is required."
With the upcoming presidential election, he pointed out the importance of political neutrality and preventing the spread of false rumors. He said, "Information from unclear sources causes anxiety among citizens and undermines trust in the public sector," and requested, "Strictly observe the obligation of political neutrality under the Public Official Election Act, and ensure neutrality and fairness even in internal meetings or on social media."
Mayor Lee also presented a vision for urban development for the future of Goyang City. Regarding the Gongneungcheon Low-Carbon Waterfront Park Project, which began on April 30, he stated, "Through effective planning and interdepartmental cooperation, Gongneungcheon should be created as a resting space where ecology and citizens coexist," expressing his commitment to realizing the 'Creating a River for Bathing and Wading' pledge of the 8th popularly elected administration.
He also stressed the necessity of creating an eco-friendly, energy self-sufficient city. Mayor Lee said, "It is important for our city to establish a system that enables energy self-sufficiency, so we must consider concrete measures such as creating energy self-sufficient villages," and instructed, "Even when building a single apartment complex, we should aim for an energy self-sufficiency rate of 90% and carry out pilot projects accordingly." He added, "A long-term and comprehensive plan is needed so that the entire city can achieve energy self-sufficiency."
Strategies for revitalizing tourism were also presented. Mayor Lee said, "Since various projects such as the Hanok Village around Haengju Fortress, Haengju Ferry, and the ring road are being carried out simultaneously, a comprehensive plan to oversee them is necessary," and emphasized interdepartmental cooperation, saying, "Please make Haengju Fortress a must-visit attraction for foreign tourists."
Meanwhile, at the meeting, major projects such as drainage maintenance in preparation for heavy summer rains, revitalization of specialized food culture streets, efforts to register Bukhansanseong as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the creation of the Ilsan Complex Community Center, and the construction of the Sarihyun IC road were also reviewed.
