Yangju City recently held an interim briefing session on the "Standard Transport Cost Estimation and Accounting Treatment Criteria for Semi-Public Bus Operation System," during which Mayor Yang presided and shared key plans for implementing the system.
The briefing was attended by Vice Mayor Kim Jeongmin, the Director of the City’s Transportation Safety Bureau, the Head of the Public Transportation Division, representatives of local transportation companies, and other related officials, who exchanged practical opinions.
On this day, after listening to explanations on the details of standard transport cost estimation and settlement methods, Mayor Yang Suhyun stated, "We will establish a system that reduces transportation inconveniences for citizens and enables both transportation companies and workers to operate stably," adding, "Through the semi-public operation system, we will provide safer and more convenient bus services."
Mayor Yang particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening the public nature of transportation, highlighting that village buses are a key means of ensuring mobility rights within the region.
He stressed, "Public transportation services go beyond being a simple means of movement and are directly linked to the quality of life for citizens," adding, "This will be an important turning point for realizing transportation welfare."
Based on this briefing session, Yangju City plans to finalize the standard transport cost in May and implement the semi-public operation system for village buses in phases starting in the second half of the year.
