Rebuttal to Han Deok-soo's Lawsuit Consideration
Calls for Preventing a "Second Yoon Kunhee Shamanism Republic"
Park Ji-won, Co-Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea's Election Committee, commented on May 7 regarding Han Deok-soo, an independent preliminary candidate, considering filing a lawsuit, saying, "Go ahead and file the lawsuit."
During a public statement at the Democratic Party's election committee meeting that day, Co-Chairman Park said, "Candidate Han said at the Kwanhun Forum yesterday that he was going to sue me, Park Ji-won, over his wife's shamanism, but did not do so because I served as Chief Presidential Secretary. He called it a blatant lie, but it is a pure truth, and Han Deok-soo is the one who told a complete lie," he stated.

The previous day, at a Kwanhun Club debate, Candidate Han addressed Co-Chairman Park, who had raised the issue of his spouse's alleged involvement in shamanism, saying, "I was very disappointed that someone who once served as Director of the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea could make such a blatant lie without any pang of conscience," and added, "I was going to file a complaint." Previously, in December of last year, Co-Chairman Park had referred to Candidate Han's spouse, during Han's tenure as acting president, as "a major expert in shamanism."
Co-Chairman Park cited media reports about Candidate Han's spouse, stating, "All the media are also providing evidence," and added, "Do not worry about me." He continued, "My connection with him from working together at the Blue House is over," and argued, "Filing a lawsuit and revealing the truth together is the way to prevent a second Yoon Kunhee shamanism republic."
