'Akutagawa Prize Winner' Yoko Tawada to Speak at Kyobo Humanities Lecture Series

Kyobo Humanities Lecture Series to Be Held at 7 p.m. on the 19th
Theme: "Writing that Navigates Between Languages"

Kyobo Book Centre and the Daesan Foundation for Culture announced on May 7 that they will host the Kyobo Humanities Lecture Series with world-renowned author Yoko Tawada, who has established a unique literary world by traversing Japanese and German, at 7:00 p.m. on May 19 at Daesan Hall on the 23rd floor of Kyobo Book Centre in Gwanghwamun.

The theme of this lecture is "Writing that Navigates Between Languages." Yoko Tawada will share her experiences and thoughts gained during her journey of literary growth, having been born in Japan and later moving to Germany.

Tawada is a globally acclaimed author who has received the Goethe Medal in Germany and the Akutagawa Prize in Japan. She has also been deeply involved in environmental issues, consistently advocating for nuclear phase-out. Her major works introduced in Korea include "Kentosha," "Engraved on the Earth," "Shimmering on the Stars," and "The Solar System."
