On May 7, one day before Parents' Day, Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, embarked on a policy campaign focused on "senior care," visiting the Jeollabuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do regions in succession.

Starting in Jinan, Jeonbuk, Lee plans to visit Imsil, Jeonju, and Iksan, followed by Cheongyang and Yesan in Chungnam. Despite receiving security protection and wearing a bulletproof vest due to threats of terrorism targeting him, Lee is making a concerted effort to engage directly with voters.

Meeting with local residents near Jinan Terminal in Jeonbuk on the morning of the same day, Lee stated, "Polarization and inequality are worsening in our country, ultimately halting economic growth. This must change." He emphasized, "Politics should ensure that regions facing special sacrifices or particular difficulties are compensated, so that we can achieve balance and live together."

Jeong Eun Kyung, former head of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and a native of Gwangju, accompanied Lee as the chief campaign manager during his listening tour in Jeonbuk. On the same day, Lee will also hold a meeting with executives of the Iksan branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association. In the afternoon, he will visit Jeonju Hanok Village in Jeonbuk to host a "K-Content Industry Promotion Roundtable," where he will meet with content creators such as film directors and drama writers to discuss the development of the domestic content industry. Attendees include director Yoon Je Kyun of the film "Ode to My Father," writer Kim Eun Sook, known for dramas such as "The Glory" and "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," and writer Park Hae Young, who wrote "My Mister" and "My Liberation Notes."

Previously, Lee announced policy pledges in the culture and arts sector under the goal of "Leaping to Become a BIG5 Cultural Power in Soft Power," promising to strengthen national support for the entire K-content creation process, including fostering creative platforms and expanding production infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party indicated that if the first trial date for Lee Jae Myung's violation of the Public Official Election Act, scheduled for May 15, is not postponed or canceled until after the presidential election, they may pursue the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee Dae.

Yoon Yeo Joon, chief campaign manager, stated at the Central Election Countermeasures Committee meeting that day, "(The judiciary) must change the trial date set during the presidential election campaign period. The Supreme Court must clearly state that there will be no intervention in the presidential election."

Park Chan Dae, chief campaign manager, argued, "Cho Hee Dae's judicial coup is an attempt at judicial murder to eliminate the leading presidential candidate," and claimed, "This is a judicial rebellion aimed at overturning the outcome through the intervention of political judges." Democratic Party lawmakers plan to hold a relay press conference in front of the Seoul High Court, which is handling the retrial, before the first trial date on the 15th. On the same day, the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee will hold a general meeting to delete the term "act" from the requirements for the crime of false statement under Article 250 of the Public Official Election Act.
