Yeongju Culture and Tourism Foundation's "Children Seonbi Festival" Draws Over 40,000 Visitors in Great Success

From Civil and Military Exam Experiences to Traditional Parades
A Traditional Festival for the Whole Family That Delighted All the Senses

The 2025 Children Seonbi Festival, hosted by the Yeongju Culture and Tourism Foundation (Acting Chairman Lee Jaehun), was held successfully for four days from May 3 to May 6, coinciding with the golden holiday period.

The festival took place in the areas of Seonbi Sesang, Seonbi Village, and the Korea Seonbi Culture Training Center. Despite inclement weather, more than 40,000 visitors attended, reaffirming the festival's status as a leading family event in the region.

The most popular program was "Today's Jangwon Is Me!" held at the Korea Seonbi Culture Training Center.

Children participated in literary activities such as poetry writing and drawing, then joined the "Bangbangrye Parade," a traditional Confucian procession, giving them a special experience as the main characters of the festival. In the martial arts section, children tried archery and staff techniques firsthand, and a demonstration of traditional martial arts further heightened the energy at the event.

The large air bounce playground "Pungnyu Playground," set up on the lawn square of Seonbi Sesang, was also a major attraction. This experiential space, where children could play freely, was bustling throughout the festival and received positive feedback for its modern take on traditional play experiences.

In addition, "Alice in Seonbi Sesang" combined an imaginative playground with a character parade to stimulate the children's senses. The parade, featuring colorful sculptures and giant dolls, created unforgettable memories for the children.

The festival also offered a variety of side events. Booths for making character cotton candy, face painting, and one-day cooking classes were available. The famous Seoul restaurant "Le Parler Kitchen" drew long lines and gained popularity through word of mouth. "Cafe Kongkong," which showcased local specialty drinks and desserts, was noted as a space where visitors could enjoy both food and relaxation.

Traditional culture experiences were also well received. At Seonbi Village, programs such as Confucian etiquette, making traditional hats, and crafting horse identification tags allowed families to participate directly in Korean traditional culture.

Lee Jaehun, Acting Chairman of the Yeongju Culture and Tourism Foundation, said, "This year's Children Seonbi Festival was especially meaningful due to the participation of more families than in previous years. We will continue to develop even more enriching and diverse programs by reflecting the feedback of our visitors."
