Operation of LH Compensation Office
Handling Civil Affairs Including Land and Structure Compensation
Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province has begun the compensation process for the establishment of the Defense National Industrial Complex.
According to the city on May 7, the Nonsan Defense National Industrial Complex will be built with a total project cost of 160.7 billion won, on a site of over 870,000 square meters (approximately 260,000 pyeong) in Jukbon-ri and Dongsan-ri, Yeonmu-eup, Nonsan City. As the first national industrial complex in South Korea specialized in defense, it aims to begin construction in 2026, with land compensation and detailed design scheduled to start in the first half of this year.
The city advanced the compensation process, which was originally planned for the end of this year, and began appraisals for loss compensation negotiations on April 30.
From this day, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is operating a compensation office on site.
The compensation office will handle various compensation-related civil affairs for landowners and stakeholders, including land and structure compensation, agricultural loss compensation, relocation expenses, business compensation, and the relocation of graves.
The city expects to attract advanced industries related to defense, military supplies, and national defense through the Defense National Industrial Complex, as well as to create jobs and increase the local population.
A city official stated, "The Nonsan Defense National Industrial Complex will not only secure global competitiveness for South Korea's defense industry but also serve as a significant turning point for the local economy by creating new jobs," adding, "We will ensure the smooth operation of the compensation office so that the Nonsan Defense National Industrial Complex project can proceed even more rapidly."
