It has been confirmed that Moon Dahye, daughter of former President Moon Jaein, is under police investigation on suspicion of failing to donate the funds raised after holding a charity event.
According to the Seoul Seodaemun Police Station and media reports on May 6, Moon has reportedly been booked as a suspect on charges of fraud. She is accused of failing to keep her promise to donate the proceeds from an exhibition held in the form of a charity bazaar at her gallery in 2022.
In December 2022, Moon Dahye held an exhibition in the form of a charity bazaar for ten days at a gallery located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. At that time, she received artwork donations from 36 artists and sold them through an auction. She promoted that "the proceeds would be donated to a nonprofit foundation to support art education projects for young people preparing for independence."
However, suspicions were raised that the funds collected at the time were not delivered to the promised nonprofit foundation. After a petition was filed with the police in October last year, the police recently booked Moon Dahye as a suspect on charges of fraud and launched a full-scale investigation.
Meanwhile, Moon was sentenced to a fine of 15 million won in the first trial last month for causing an accident while driving under the influence and for illegally operating a lodging business without reporting it. She has appealed the verdict.
