Gyeonggi Province to Conduct Safety Inspections at 64 Demolition Sites Ahead of Heavy Rainfall and Typhoons

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will conduct safety inspections on 64 demolition construction sites by June 20, 2025, to prepare for heavy rainfall and typhoons during the summer season.

This inspection will be carried out through joint inspections involving Gyeonggi Province, city and county governments, and private experts, as well as separate inspections conducted by the cities and counties themselves. The inspections will target 64 demolition construction sites in eight cities, including Yongin, that have received demolition permits in accordance with the Building Management Act.

The main inspection items include: ▲ whether safety facilities for pedestrian paths and protective or prevention nets for falling objects are properly managed; ▲ the installation and deformation status of temporary structures such as external scaffolding and construction fences; ▲ securing drainage channels and the management of sedimentation basins and sewage pipelines.

If urgent issues are identified during the inspections, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will immediately order on-site corrections. For matters requiring action, the building owner will be requested to make corrections. If violations of the law are found, administrative measures such as prosecution or fines will be imposed.

Park Jonggeun, Director of Architectural Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "Demolition construction sites are particularly vulnerable to heavy rainfall and typhoons in the summer, making safety management essential. We will continue to prioritize the safety of residents by conducting regular inspections and taking proactive measures."
