Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Han Ducksoo, the former Prime Minister and independent presidential preliminary candidate, will meet at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th to discuss a potential unification of their candidacies.

On the 6th, Kim's campaign released a statement saying, "We have agreed for Kim to meet Han alone at 18:00 tomorrow," and added, "This meeting was proposed by Kim. There should be no further unnecessary debate regarding the unification."

The location of the meeting will be announced at the scheduled time.

Kim stated that he would exercise the presidential candidate's priority authority over party affairs, and criticized the leadership's plan to conduct a party-wide survey on unification, saying, "The unnecessary poll announced for tomorrow is an act that undermines party unity and must be stopped immediately."

He also said, "The party leadership should no longer intervene in the unification process and must immediately cease all related activities," emphasizing, "From this moment, the unification process will be led entirely by the presidential candidate."

The party's position is that it must do its utmost to secure victory in the election by supporting the presidential candidate through the Central Election Countermeasures Committee without delay.

He also stated, "I plan to meet separately with all the candidates who participated in the primary to have in-depth discussions on current issues."

Han's side also issued a statement on the same day, saying, "We are scheduled to meet Kim at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow," and added, "It is difficult to provide further details at this time."

Regarding the ongoing friction between Kim and the party leadership over the unification talks, Han's side stated, "All matters other than the above meeting are issues to be resolved between the People Power Party and its presidential candidate."

They added, "Han has always been open to discussing unification, and as we have stated multiple times, he has entrusted the People Power Party with the decision on the method of unification."
