Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, attended major Buddhist ceremonies in the city on May 5, in celebration of Buddha's Birthday (Buddhist Era 2569). He commemorated the occasion and reflected on the meaning of Buddha's great compassion and mercy.

On this day, Acting Mayor Jang visited Samhaksa Temple of the Cheontae Order in Masan in the morning, where he shared tea and conversation with Chief Monk Chungwang. He then attended the Buddha's Birthday ceremony held at Jeongbeopsa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, presided over by Chief Monk Gwangwoo. In the afternoon, he also participated in a celebratory performance at Anguksa Temple of the Jogye Order in Changwon, led by Chief Monk Yeongsan.
In his congratulatory address at the ceremony, Acting Mayor Jang stated, "Changwon City will continue to strive to become a city of inclusiveness and consideration, where all citizens are respected and socially disadvantaged individuals are not marginalized."
