The Daegu Gunwi Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Dooyeol) announced on May 5, 2025, that it ranked first among 176 education support offices nationwide in the 2024 preferential purchase performance of products manufactured by persons with severe disabilities among public institutions.
According to the notice announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Gunwi Office of Education achieved a preferential purchase rate of 8.42%, which is 3.24 percentage points higher than the office ranked second.
The main items purchased included switchboards, copy paper, hand towels, stationery, and printed materials.
The Special Act on Preferential Purchase of Products Manufactured by Persons with Severe Disabilities is a system designed to provide stable employment for persons with severe disabilities, for whom general competitive employment is difficult, and to expand opportunities for vocational rehabilitation and social independence.
Kim Dooyeol, Superintendent of the Daegu Gunwi Office of Education, stated, "Going forward, the Gunwi Office of Education will continue to take the lead in expanding job opportunities, ensuring stable income, and providing opportunities for social participation for vulnerable groups by actively purchasing products manufactured by persons with severe disabilities."
The Gunwi Office of Education plans to diversify the range of products purchased from persons with severe disabilities and to continue its active purchasing efforts in the future.
