6 Points for Killing One Enemy... Ukraine Awards Points for Online Weapons Marketplace

Brave1 Market, an Online Weapons Platform, Launched
Minister Fedorov Compares It to a "Military Version of Amazon"

Ukraine is awarding points to soldiers who have distinguished themselves in the war against Russia, which can be used on an online weapons marketplace.

On May 4, the Kyiv Independent and U.S. Business Insider reported that Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, announced the launch of the weapons platform 'Brave1 Market' at a military technology conference on April 28.

This site offers more than 1,000 items for sale, including drones, robotic systems, electronic warfare equipment, components, and artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

Under the new point system, Ukrainian soldiers can upload video evidence of drone strikes against Russian military targets to the site and receive online points that can be used to purchase new weapons. The system is similar to incentive programs used in video games.

According to Business Insider, the number of points awarded varies depending on the target. Sniping a tank earns 20 points, completely destroying a tank earns 40 points, and destroying a mobile rocket system can earn up to 50 points depending on its caliber. Killing one enemy soldier earns 6 points.

When equipment is ordered, the Ukrainian government covers the cost and delivers the items to the requesting unit within a week. Soldiers can also leave reviews of their purchases on the site.

Minister Fedorov stated, "One unit has accumulated 16,000 points, which is enough to buy hundreds of drones," and compared Brave1 Market to a "military version of Amazon."

He emphasized, "Often, unit members do not know what equipment is available to them," adding, "This site can provide greater transparency."

This program is also expected to foster competition between units. Currently, about 90% of Ukrainian military drone units have earned points, and the rate at which achievements are accumulating is so fast that the government had to reorganize its logistics system to supply more drones to the units.

Minister Fedorov added, "This is not just a motivation system, but a mechanism that is changing the rules of war."
