Guidance on City Tours and Ungsang Hoeya Festival Events and Festivals
...Enhancing Interpretation Competency
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province recently held a Competency Enhancement Day to strengthen the interpretation skills of its cultural tourism interpreters regarding local tourism resources.
Yangsan City currently has a total of 10 cultural tourism interpreters. They are assigned to major tourist attractions within the city, such as Tongdosa Temple, Naewonsa Temple, Hwangsan Park, and Yangsan Tower. These interpreters provide in-depth and high-quality explanations to visitors, thereby contributing to increased satisfaction among tourists.
This Competency Enhancement Day focused on the Ungsang area. In particular, a preliminary tour of Ungsang Sports Park was conducted to ensure interpreters could accurately guide visitors regarding festival venues and convenience facilities, in preparation for the city tour and Ungsang Hoeya Festival scheduled for June.
Additionally, the interpreters visited various tourism resources for visitors to Cheonseongsan and Ubulsan, such as the third grotto Mitaam and Ubulsinsa Shrine. They also visited the Seochang-dong Administrative Welfare Center, where the marker for the Joseon Tongsinsa Road is installed, in order to supplement their interpretation content.
Previously, in March, the interpreters explored the Cheonseongsan area, including Cheonseongdae, the first sunrise spot in Eurasia, as well as Wonhyoam Hermitage and Wonhyobong Peak. During this time, they analyzed the attractions of Cheonseongsan tourism and collected materials needed for on-site interpretation.
Tourists and citizens who wish to receive explanations from cultural tourism interpreters can apply through the 'Interpretation Request' section on the Yangsan City Culture, Tourism, and Sports website.
An official from Yangsan City stated, "Through the operation of this Competency Enhancement Day, we expect that the interpreters' expertise and on-site responsiveness will be improved, allowing them to provide more accurate and comprehensive explanations to both tourists and citizens."
