On May 3, Gangseo District in Seoul (Mayor Jin Kyohun) and Namwon City in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Choi Kyungsik) signed a friendship exchange agreement at Hwainingdang, Hanbok Culture Experience Center in Namwon City, and began cooperation for the mutual development of the two cities.

Through this agreement, the two cities decided to promote ongoing and extensive mutual exchanges in various fields, including the economy, culture and arts, tourism, sports, and administration. Specific cooperation measures will be established later through working-level consultations.
During the signing ceremony, the two cities also exchanged representative cultural and artistic works symbolizing their friendship. Gangseo District presented a reproduction of Jeong Seon's "Changuimundo," while Namwon City gifted a print of Kim Byungjong's "Hwahon Sansu," marking the significance of their first exchange.
After the signing ceremony, Mayor Jin visited the 95th Chunhyang Festival held at Gwanghallu Garden and along the Yocheon Stream in Namwon City, taking time to explore ways to revitalize local culture and tourism.
Choi Kyungsik, Mayor of Namwon City, said, "I hope to achieve mutual development by linking Namwon City's future agriculture and cultural resources with Gangseo District's advanced industrial resources." Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo District, responded, "I look forward to the joint development of both cities through exchanges of advanced industries and human resources as future economic cities."
Meanwhile, Gangseo District is also working toward regional mutual development by maintaining friendship exchanges with Pyeongchang County and sister-city relationships with 10 other cities, including Imsil County and Sangju City, in addition to Namwon City.
