Han Ducksoo "Completely Open to Unification with Kim Moonsoo"

Han Ducksoo, an independent presidential candidate, stated on May 3 that he is "completely open" regarding the method of unification with People Power Party candidate Kim Moonsoo.

Appearing on TV Chosun News that day, Han said about the unification method, "If we can join forces and successfully pass on the future of our country to the younger generation, the method itself does not matter at all."

When asked when he would meet with Kim, Han replied, "I called to congratulate him earlier and suggested we meet soon," adding, "We have not set a specific date yet."

Kim stated, "Everyone who believes that constitutional reform is necessary must unite," explaining, "It is not about opposing a particular individual, but because it is essential for our future generations to live in harmony under a proper liberal democracy and market economy."

Regarding the restructuring of the power structure through constitutional reform, Kim said, "The executive, legislative, and judicial branches must maintain checks and balances and each fulfill their roles," adding, "I am considering setting a three-year period, making every possible effort to achieve this, and then stepping down."

In his declaration of candidacy the previous day, Han stated that after completing a decentralization-oriented constitutional amendment, he would step down after simultaneously holding the 22nd presidential election and the 23rd general election on April 2028, marking the third year of his administration.
